Bountiful Beads - How to Make Money Selling Your Bead Jewelry
By J. Alias

What you thought was going to be just a hobby has turned into much more than you though, right? I suppose now you're thinking about going into business of yourself. With all the beautiful bead creations you've made, why not? Perhaps you want to do it to make a little extra money, or you just want to do it for the simple joy of making others happy with your gift of beading.

Regardless of whatever your personal reason may be for wanting to start a business, selling your beaded jewelry is a fairly simple task. It can be done locally, where you live, or you can abroad by selling your peices over the internet. Believe it or not, you can start selling your jewelry without spending a great deal of money. In fact, it's less expensive than what you might think!

If you're serious about making your bountiful beads work for you, then take a look at the following list of options I've come up with. Besides, a little shamless promotion never hurt anyone, right?

Wear Your Beaded Jewelry. This is probably the most simplest task you can do. As humans, we're very visual creatures. So when someone approaches you in the store or on the street and asks, "Where did you get that beautiful necklace?" or compliments you by saying, "My, those are terrific earrings!" you can use that as your opening line. You can inform them that you make the jewelry, and then go from there.

Have Business Cards. You don't have to have anything fancy, expensive, or top dollar. Just a plain white business card with your name, number, and a few minor details about what jewelry you create are enough. For tiny accessories, these can pack quite a punch when you're out and about. A few places you could try to hand these out at are salons, grocery stores, and even your job!

Attend Charity Auctions. Even though you may not be so sure about this one, I assure you that it will work. Regardless of what charity the event is for, instead of donating money or clothing, why don't you try donating one of your beaded jewelry peices? Not only would you be gaining exposure for your humanitarian efforts, but your name would be getting out in the open as well. It's a double win-win for everyone! What's better than that?

Have a Party. Either you yourself can arrange this, or a friend or family member can do this. Simply organize a party where you can introduce some of your beaded jewelry and sell it to anyone who is interested.

Check out Local Flower and Gift Shops. Small businesses like these are filled with possible customers, since they're all looking for something with that personal touch. The vendors may even let you advertise, or strike up some sort of partnership where they may want to work with you!

Contact Newspapers and The Yellow Pages. Even though we're currently in a recession and slowly crawling out of it, newspapers will let you advertise your business or services and only charge you a small fee. The same goes for the Yellow Pages. Whether you want to purchase an ad and let it run for a day, or 3 weeks, it's totally up to you. Whatever you can afford is perfectly fine. The main goal here is exposure, exposure, EXPOSURE!

As you can see, selling your beaded jewelry isn't as complicated or hard as one might think. Anyone can do it. All it takes is a little energy, concentration, and a sprinkle or two of determination. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start making your bountiful beads work for you!
